Ellie Ruth Smith - Age 87, of Nashville, passed away December 16, 2017.

Ellie Ruth was a servant to her family, pets, her church and God. She had a contagious smile and great sense of humor. She also was a super fan of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. She enjoyed growing flowers, collectables, researching her family history and most of all spending time with her family. She was also very active in her community serving as a member of The Middle Tennessee Orchids Society and a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ellie Cleo Hooper; Joseph Harrison Hooper; husband, William Richard Smith, Sr.; son, William Richard Smith, Jr.; sisters, Helen Whitley & Sylvia Eakes. Survived by her son, David Lowell Smith; daughter-in-law, Kathy Jean Smith; grandchildren, Rich Smith & Molly Kathleen Chitwood (Connor); great-grandchild, Bridger William Chitwood; sister, Myrna Short; nieces, Patricia, Cynthia, Stephanie & Stacy; nephew, David Allen; several extended family and friends.

A Life Celebration will be 2:00pm, Friday, December 22, 2017 with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Nephews to serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 12:00pm - 2:00pm, Friday at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN, 37221, 615-646-9292, harpethhills.com
