October 31, 1939 - April 7, 2017
Emil Mongeon, 77, of Brentwood Tennessee, passed away on April 7th, 2017 in his home in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Emil was born in Northbridge, Massachusetts to Frederick and Leona Mongeon on October 31, 1939. After graduation from Sutton Memorial High School he joined the Air Force Reserves and remained a member for six years. He married Elaine LaPlante on September 22, 1962 and began work at Schusters Woolen Mills in Douglas, MA. Soon thereafter they relocated to Pittsfield, Ma to continue his career at Eaton Paper (later to become Sheaffer-Eaton), where he and Elaine raised their three children, Suzanne, Michelle, and Jeffrey. Emil was a bit of a pioneer in being involved as a father by heading up the PTA, the local Camp Fire Girls and an avid fan of the local hockey leagues. He was well-known for his home improvement projects, the most notable of which included building the family home on Melbourne Road with the help of his close friend, the late Paul Grenier. Later, the family moved to Costa Mesa, CA where Emil worked with Pentel. He and Elaine began their world travels through their frequent business trips to Japan where Pentel was located. They enjoyed visiting landmarks throughout Western and Eastern Europe as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. But Romania stole their hearts with the friendships made through their work in real estate there. Emil and Elaine move to Brentwood Tennessee with their daughter, Michelle, 27 years ago. This was the beginning of his very successful career in real estate. Emil was involved in the real estate industry in his community as well as abroad. He was the past President of the Williamson County Association of Realtors. An expert in international real estate, Emil was a member of the National Association of REALTORS International Advisory Board, the National Association of REALTORS International Operations Committee, and International Consortium of Real Estate Associates (ICREA). He received the 2015 Tennessee Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year award. He also served as the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) Presidential Liaison to Romania where he and Elaine made several trips to assist in the development of the current residential real estate sales market. He also spoke internationally on real estate issues.
He owned his own real estate company, Legacy International for the past 15 years where he worked alongside Elaine and his daughter, Michelle.

Emil is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Leona and his siblings Frederick,
George (Omer), Lena, Pat, Jeanette, and Irene.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Brentwood, TN, his three children, Suzanne Hart of
Cambridge, MA, Michelle Payne and her husband Rick of Brentwood, TN, and Jeffrey Mongeon of Garden Grove, CA, his brother Roland of Kansas City, MO, his two grandchildren Benjamin Hart and Jacqueline Hart, both of Philadelphia, PA, and 36 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Harpeth Hills Funeral
