Emmie Lee Robinson Wetherford, age 98, peacefully slipped into Heavenly rest on March 12, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, W.A. “Fred” Wetherford, parents, Reuben and Billie Robinson of Chattanooga, brother Allen Robinson of Chattanooga. She is survived by her daughters: Billie Ann (Louis) Boyte, Mecia Lee Wetherford of Denver, CO; Rebecca Len (Don) Evans: brother, Traylor (Tena) Robinson of Chattanooga, TN; cousin, Barry (Aleta) Robinson of Clemson, SC; and nieces and nephew.
Emmie was born in Augusta, Ga on September 19, 1922 and grew up in Chattanooga, TN where she graduated from Chattanooga High School. She and Fred raised their daughters in Nashville after Fred was transferred with AT&T. Emmie and Fred were perfect examples of the greatest generation.
Emmie loved her family, friends and being a homemaker. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed antiquing and had a natural talent for home decorating. She volunteered at Centennial Hospital for many years and received Volunteer of the Year award. Always active in church, Inglewood Baptist, Forest Hills Baptist and Woodmont Baptist. Emmie’s last months at The Reserve of Spring Hill were with a staff who loved her sweet and spunky personality. She was always a trooper.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 12-1 PM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodmont Baptist Church TV ministry.
