Ernest Lee Barnes of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019; he was 86 years old.
Remembered by his family as a very good man, Ernest took great pride in his family. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army, loved gardening and the outdoors, and was very knowledgeable about animals and nature and loved to share that knowledge with others. A self-taught carpenter, he loved building anything from small birdhouses to restoring old houses in Franklin. He also enjoyed music; teaching himself to play guitar, mandolin, banjo, and Piano.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; Fount Sr. and Freida Burns Barnes; his wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn Annette Barnes; and brothers Fount Barnes, Jr., and Thomas Barnes.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Barnes; son, Michael Barnes (Elaine); grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Barnes; son, Douglas Barnes; and granddaughter, Haley Barnes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2:30-3:15, graveside services will begin at 3:30; all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN.
