Frances Barbour White Newsome- Died July 2, 2016 of cancer.
Mother, wife of a country doctor, registered nurse, seamstress, gardener and Garden Club Regional judge, gourmet cook, bibliophile, New York Times Crossword afficianado.
Born in 1925 in Madison, Virginia and raised along the beautiful Rappahannock River, she graduated from the University of Virginia Nursing School and met and married a medical student who became a general practitioner in Pilot Mountain, NC. After his passing she moved to Raleigh, NC, then to Nashville, TN in 2008. She flourished here, making many new friends especially with her cooking, crocheting and needlework skills.
She was a wonderful Mother who always offered to buy a "one way bus ticket to anywhere" if we ever complained. We never took her up on it.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Dr. Henry Clay Newsome, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Leigh Newsome Keicher. She is survived by her son, Dr. Clay Newsome III (LouAnne) of Nashville; sister, Rebecca White Coates; brother, Stuart Taylor White both of Madison, Virginia and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Pavilion at Harpeth Hills at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alive Hospice in Nashville.
