SMITH, Frank C.-age 66, passed away November 12, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Cairo, IL on March 15, 1946 to the late Charles W. and Mary Smith. Also, preceding him in death are his brother, David and sister, Charlene. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Smith; children, Monya Smith Terry, Chip Smith Kim, and Jennifer Smith; grandchildren, Justin 24, Ryan 23, Thomas 17, Hailie 16, Jordan 15, Connor 14, Garrett 13, Caroline 10, Nicolas 8, Kane 5, Eva 4; siblings, Mary Youngman Mack, Michael Smith Margaret, and Bonnie Mason Rusty. At age 17 he joined USAF and married the love of his life Carolyn Franklin whom he had met the previous year. During this time he earned his GED and took college courses at night. In 1970 he graduated Miami Dade Jr. College with honors. Frank was selected for Airman Education and Commissioning Program. He went to Florida State for 1 year. He graduated and was Commissioned 2nd LT. After 23 years of service he retired from the Air Force 11 years enlisted 12 years commissioned. After his retirement he moved to Hendersonville and worked for the VA hospital as a Histology Tech for 7 years. He was always active in preserving the history of our country and constitution. A Life Celebration service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Bishop Clark Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00-12:45 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the CJD Foundation.
