Gary Dean Scudder, 65, born September 8, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN, and died June 13, 2018. Gary graduated with his BS and MS from Purdue University and his PhD from Stanford University. After teaching at the University of Minnesota and Dartmouth College, Gary joined the Owen School of Vanderbilt University in 1990 and was the James A. Speyer Professor of Production Management as well as celebrated teacher and recognized researcher. An expert in new product development and strategic planning, Gary has helped corporations and generations of students build new products and technologies more quickly and strategically. He was passionate about his students and teaching.

Gary's faith was central to his life and he loved people. He was deeply involved at Christ Presbyterian Church as an elder and on the CPA school board.

Gary was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Marti; his daughter, Sarah and Chris Morrison, and Haynes, Ellie Grace and Samuel; his son, David and Hannah Scudder and Margaret Rose. Along with sisters, Sharon Nehls and Shirlene Burroughs and their families.

Memorial contributions can be made to Missions Development International, 5034-D Thoroughbred Lane, Brentwood, TN 37027, where Gary has served on the Board for almost 20 years.

To celebrate his life, there will be a visitation from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2323 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
