George Bolton Bess- Age 83, Nashville. Preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Franklin and Cora Marie Bess. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Bess; sons, George Timothy Bess (Leshia) and David Todd Bess (Jana); grandchildren, George William Bess (Chelsea), Kayla Marie Bess and David Livingston Bess; sisters, Evelyn Winters (Earl) and Audrey Greer (John).
He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years as firefighter. He was a retired Captain from the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department after 32 years of service and retired from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 46. He was a member of Kemper Heights Church of Christ.
Active Pallbearers will be Will Bess, David Bess, Mark Winters, Tommy Winters, Ricky Winters, John Greer, David Greer and David Vick. Honorary Pallbearers will be active and retired firefighters, Rob Anderson, Greg Beaty, Steve Gregory, Chuck Link and Chris Hopkins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Ken Green officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
