Griffin, George Urquardt, age 74, of Old Hickory, TN passed away January 28, 2014.
George was born in Tupelo, MS in 1939 to the late George and Julia Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Patti, his children Jimmy Phillips, Sheldon Griffin, Corinne Chapman (Bain), and Beth Podzemny (Jason), his grandchildren Julia and Jason Podzemny and Miller and Knox Chapman, and his sister Mary Helen Hollaran (Bill).
He graduated from Vanderbilt University and settled in Nashville. He has left a lasting legacy in Nashville and throughout the Southeast through his work as a construction project manager. Among some of his projects are: the Nissan Plants in Smyrna, TN and Canton, MS; The Bicentennial Mall, LP Field, and the Hilton in Downtown Nashville; River Bend Correctional facility; Toyota Plant in Georgetown, KY and the downtown Nashville Library.
He was a kind-hearted and generous husband and father and doting grandfather. There was never a cat or dog that he did not love.
A graveside service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM.
