George Lautner

May 3, 1936 — January 9, 2018

George L. Lautner (Pittsburgh, PA, Kingston Springs, TN, Larimore, ND)
My father was born May 3rd, 1936, Pittsburgh, PA. He was the proud son of George and Mollie Lautner. He was raised in Carrick and graduated from Carrick High School.
After high school dad served his country as a PFC in the US Army. He served overseas in Germany where he attended to the needs of his General as his orderly. He served as a member of the "Hell on Wheels 3rd Armored Tank Division "We are thankful for dad's love for his country and his dedication to serve, protect, and defend the freedom we are born with as American citizens.
Upon completion of his duty tour he returned home to begin a career in the plumbing industry under the friendship and tutelage of George A. Metz. Dad worked hard for George Metz and eventually purchased the company from George and incorporated the name Metz and Lautner Plumbing Company. During his career in the plumbing industry he served in the capacity of the president of the Mechanical Contractor's Association of Western Pennsylvania. He also served as trustee that oversaw the pension funds of Plumber's Local #27 (Pittsburgh). Dad loved his work and the people that he was privileged to work for and with. Later in his career he sold the company to James and Blanche Huckestein who hired him to oversee the operation of their plumbing division. Upon his retirement he continued to be involved in the industry he loved, designing plumbing systems alongside his friends Robert Fleishman and George Ley. We are thankful for dad's dedication to hard work and his desire to always provide for his family.
Along with dads' professional career, he served a social career with dedication to the Monongahela Lodge as he led them through the ranks and eventually as Master. He also served the Lions Club in various ways. His spiritual life was planted in him at his baptism. God planted the seed of faith in dads' heart at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Carrick, PA. God watered the seed of faith at the Ruthfred Lutheran Church located in Bethel Park, PA. Dad served on the council at the churches and supported the work of Christ through His years. We are thankful for the grace of God whose gift of faith endured until his last breath. He spent many of his weekends and hunting seasons up in Tionesta (God's Country) with friend Tony, Chuck, and Bill.
Dad was married to Elsie Grace Succop Lautner, they remained united in marriage until mom died January 9th, 2018. We are thankful for the love they shared and the home they provided for their boys. We are also thankful that their love extended beyond the walls of their home as they loved and cared for their neighbors and friends throughout the places that they called home.
Dad is preceded in death by his dear wife Elsie (January 9, 2018), and beloved son, David James Lautner (February 11,2020) Blessed be their memories, they were loved with a great love.
Dad is survived by son George C. Lautner and dads cherished daughter in law Christine. No one could ever say an unkind word about his dear Chrissy. If they did, he was quick to defend her honor. We thank God for His grace in our lives, grace so broad that He provided us with a kind and loving earthly father to be loved by and to love and care for.
Dad is also survived by his dear sister Dorothy (James, deceased) O'Donnell, nieces Kathy and Alli (Todd), nephews Dale (Sue) and Brian (Carol). We thank God for their love and support for dad and his family through the years.
Dad is also preceded in death many friends who remained very dear to him. Dad is survived by just as many friends, may you all know how important each of you are to him and to us. We thank our Lord for each of your lives
Dad left his earthly home Saturday August 15, 2020. He was under the loving care of the VA (Both in Tennessee and in North Dakota) and Altru Home Care and Altru Hospice Care. We are thankful to each of these groups, the care you gave dad showed empathy and poured love into him. Immediately upon death dad was granted God's grace to enter his heavenly home in accordance with the promise of victory authored for him in Jesus Christ.
Christ will be honored, Thursday August 20, 2020 when we gather for worship at the Living Faith Free Lutheran Church, Larimore, ND. The service will be officiated by Reverend Dr. James Molstre who loved dad as his pastor while he still resided in Pittsburgh. Dad will be buried with Military honor at the Middle Tennessee National Veterans Cemetery at a date and time that will be determined.
We thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the life He gave dad and the life He offers to everyone who lives with the full expectation of life by faith alone.
To God be the Glory, Saturday August 15,2020 was dad's best day. Thank you, Jesus!
