George Vander Woude, Jr., age 88, passed on peacefully to his eternal home on November 11, 2017, surrounded by his family.

In all areas of life, George was dedicated to honoring his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He was involved in his children's activities throughout his life, worked faithfully for 36 years with Inland Steel Company , enjoyed singing in his church choir, was generous and gracious with others, and was actively committed to the Great Commission. He loved connecting the lives of missionaries all over the globe with others, and passionately shared "Mission Moments" in his church, even after he retired from the Mission Committee. George enjoyed worshipping God with his church families, and was a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and most recently, a charter member of the Westminster Chapel community.

George loved life and lived it to the full. Golf and the Chicago Cubs were lifelong pastimes.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie (Aardsma) Vander Woude, son George Vander Woude III , daughter Ann Vander Woude, (all of Nashville); and daughter Lynn Vander Woude - ‘Aho, son-in-law ‘Alefosio ‘Aho and grandson Fungani ‘Aho (missionaries in the Kingdom of Tonga)

Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 15, 2017 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home (9090 Hwy. 100, Nashville). After private internment, a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church (33 Burton Hills Blvd.) where family will receive friends after the service.
