Gerard Patrick Hamilton, Sr, age 55 of Kingston Springs, passed away on June 5, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Chicago, IL, he was the son of Melvin Roy Hamilton and Mary Catherine O'Crowley Hamilton.

Gerard was a truck driver with A.N. Webber Trucking. He had a deep passion and appreciation for life. In the 80's he travelled as a drummer for several bands, including the Neo Types.

He enjoyed golf, poker, but truly invested himself in NASCAR, not only for the sport, but because of his love of cars, mechanic work and the efforts it took to make the machines perform. He was a "man who knew everything," even if he had to learn it first. His children recall how he could fix anything and would always return something borrowed in better condition that when he received it.

He was proud of his job as a truck driver, was meticulous, thorough and honest in his life, and lived life to the fullest, with no regrets.

Above all, he loved his family. He always said his wife, Sara, was the best thing to happen to him, and found joy in their marriage and children. He allowed for the perfect blend of joining their two families together to be one, united group.

In addition to his wife, Sara, he is survived by three sons: Patrick, Keith (Megan) and John; and siblings: Karen (Ed) Coyne, Marianne (Ralph) Langston, Michael Hamilton, Patti (John) Szarnych, John (Cheryl) Hamilton, Laura (Mike) Bliss, Katie Whitsitt and Bridget (Brent) Mason.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Pavilion at Harpeth Hills for visitation. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Pavilion, officiated by Pastor Tom Tyndall. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
