Gerald "Gerry" R. Armbruster Sr, age 78, a longtime resident of Nashville, went to be with our Lord on April 16, 2019. He was born December 19, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Charles and Teresa Groneck Armbruster.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents John and Teresa Armbruster and brothers Jack and Dick Armbruster all of St. Louis. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cecile Carol "Taffy" Armbruster, children, Gerry (Suzanne) Armbruster of Nashville; Kim (Tom) Davis of Birmingham, Alabama; Kevin (Carmelina) Armbruster of Chicago, Illinois; Allison (Scott) Acrey of Nashville and nine grandchildren: Gerry III, Mary and John Armbruster; Hanna, Ellie and Jackson Tew; Jade Armbruster; Caroline and Cole Acrey; brother, Bob (Ann) Armbruster of St. Louis and Jeanne Pate of San Diego as well as a host of very close relatives and friends.
Gerry's life was defined by doing small things with great love. His Catholic faith and love for our Lord was the center of his life followed closely by his love and adoration for his family and friends. Gerry was a founding member and very active parishioner of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Diocese of Nashville. His involvement included serving as the director of the RCIA program, being the "Search" Dad to many high school teenagers and a member of the Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Safe Haven Family Shelter Board of Directors, the Nashville Diocesan Board, and the School Board at Father Ryan High School and St Cecilia Academy.
He was a graduate of Bishop Dubourg high school and St. Louis University. Gerry served in the United States Marine Corp and spent the majority of his professional life in sales and management with Pan American Life Insurance Company.
Visitation will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 23 from 5 - 7 pm followed by a Rosary Service at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew on Wednesday, April 24 at 11 am. The family will receive visitors an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 535 Sneed Road W, Franklin, TN 37069.
