Glen Harrison Malugin, age 88, passed away on July 6, 2021 at St Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born on July 7, 1932 at Beaverdam in Hickman County as the last of 5 children born to his parents, Percy and Pearl Malugin. He is preceded in death by his brother, Hayes Malugin and his 3 sisters, Nell Nickell, Ellen Amacher and Emma Jean Bratton.
Glen is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Shirley Coble Malugin, his children Glenda Brown (Bob) and Gary Malugin (Rita), his 4 grandchildren- Robyn Floyd (Tracy), Hillary Malugin, Elliott Brown, and Hailey Christian (Jordan), and his 2 great-grandchildren- Rowan and Crue Floyd.
Glen graduated from Hickman County High School in 1950 where he played basketball for the Bulldogs. He married Shirley Coble in 1953 and they moved to Kentucky in 1954 where he worked as a farmer. The family moved to Nashville in 1957 where Glen started working at the Ford Glass Plant. He retired from Ford after 31 years. He was a member of the Forest Home Church of Christ.
Glen enjoyed bluegrass music, square dancing, playing UNO with his grandchildren, good catfish, and desserts. He liked tractors, mules, Ford pickups, and sitting in the rocker on his porch. Together, Glen and Shirley enjoyed Vanderbilt and SEC sports, attending NASCAR races, and camping- especially at Ruskin Cave. Although he didn’t seem to be a big talker, he loved to tease and have a good one-on-one conversation. He always enjoyed spending time with the family and loved calling his grandchildren by their silly nicknames! Glen had a strong work ethic and was willing to help anyone in the South Harpeth Community. He showed his loved to his family and friends with actions more than words.
