It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Graple "Sue" Henson, who left us on December 20, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on April 28, 1940, Sue was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love and warmth.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Henson; parents, Forrest and Edith McCutheon; sister, Mable Wilson; brother, Jerry McCutheon; grandson, Paul Holman III, and great-grandchildren, Annabelle Wightman, and Destiny Henson.
Sue is survived by her children, Tammy Holman, Tony Buchanan, Tonia Henson, and Timothy Henson, Tammy Howard, and Tina Henson; grandchildren, Brittney Wolfenbarger, Jasmine Henson, Ashley Buchanan, CJ Martin, Sirrena Wightman, Brandon Tolar, Katie Henson, Blake Burch, and Jayla Hendershot; great-granddaughters, Sylvia Rose Wolfenbarger, and Sophia Tolar; great-grandsons, Wyatt Wolfenbarger and Joshua Wightman; and siblings, Carolyn Hunt and Gene McCutheon.
Sue had a long and fulfilling career as a materials handler in the textile industry, where she contributed to the creation of beautiful rugs, towels, and textiles that brought comfort to many homes. Her industrious nature was matched only by her generous spirit, as she consistently put the needs of others before her own, earning respect and admiration from all who knew her.
One could often find Sue indulging in her love for sports, proudly cheering on her favorite team, the Tennessee Titans or watching baseball and NASCAR races with enthusiasm. Her passion for these activities was just a glimpse of her lively personality, a lady who cared significantly about her appearance and carried herself with grace and dignity. Sue would always switch handbags, shoes, and jewelry to match whatever outfit she was wearing.
Sue's interests extended beyond sports; she found joy in reading the newspaper, growing stunning roses, and going window shopping, always eager to stay active and engaged with the world around her. Her culinary talents were a blessing to family and friends alike, as she found great pleasure in cooking and baking, particularly when it came to her famous biscuits, sausage gravy, and peach cobbler.
Sue’s kindness and generosity reflected her beautiful heart—she was a constant source of light and inspiration, especially to her grandkids, who referred to her as “Nanny”. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we celebrate the life and legacy of Graple "Sue" Henson, let us remember her for the loving lady she was. She will be deeply missed.
