Gregory Lee Mahoney affectionately known as Gary, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born in La Junta, Colorado on September 25, 1948, to the late Ralph and Robin Mahoney.
Gary was a Christian and it was reflected in his generosity and kind heart. He was a loving husband and proud father of two sons and “Gandy” to his four grandchildren as well as a friend to many. He was a lover of all sports, especially the University of Kentucky, Tennessee Titans, and the Nashville Predators. “Gandy’s” competitive spirit was very evident and could be heard at any of his grandchildren’s sporting events. Since childhood, Gary has loved golf. After retirement from a career in plumbing engineering, his love of golf led to annual trips with his brothers and cousins and weekly golf outings with his friends.
Gary is a Murray State University graduate and a member of the College of Fellows in the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents listed above, and his brother, Don Mahoney. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Glenda Mahoney; two sons, Kirk Gates (Holly Gates), and Bryan Mahoney (Meaghan Mahoney); siblings, Glenn Mahoney (Pam Mahoney), and Ken Mahoney (Sheila Mahoney); and grandchildren, Mackinley Gates, Nolan Gates, Harper Mahoney, and Colin Mahoney.
A visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with a memorial service beginning at 2:00pm.
