Hardie Scott Greer, Jr. age 89 of Olive Branch Assisted Living, passed away May 12, 2014, at NHC Healthcare.

He was born November 12, 1924 to Hardie and Mary (Adkins) Greer. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age while attending Richland Primitive Baptist Church. He also served the Scouts for approximately 14 years.

He was an educator, and retired from the Navy Reserve and the State of Tennessee.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Amy (Lillard) Greer; daughter, Mary Alice (Kelly) Leake; and grandson, Jimmy Kelly; ex-granddaughter in law, Wendy (Kelly) Guffey; and brother in law, Grover Anderson.

He is survived by granddaughter, Amy (Kelly) Elkins; sisters, Lorena Anderson, Odessa (J.C) Bowers, Carolyn (Warren) Miller, all of Pegram, TN, Bell (Charles) Sanders of Dickson, TN, Betty (Herman) Donegan of Loberville, TN; and one brother, Ross (Zoe) Greer of Clarksville, TN; and three great-grandsons, Christopher, Tyler, and Dalton Elkins; and two great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Heather Kelly.

Friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home where a celebration of Mr. Greer's life will be conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 @ 10:00 am with Jerry Butler & Farris Tidwell officiating.

Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with military honors.
