Mr. Harold Douglas Hooks, Sr. age 71 of La Vergne, Tennessee passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born May 21, 1947 in Hohenwald, Tennessee to the late Isham Leroy Hooks and Lois Don Lawson Hooks.
Mr. Hooks was a 1965 graduate of Lewis County High School and a 1978 graduate of Georgia State University. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until 1969. He enjoyed playing high school football, softball, golf, fishing and bowling. Mr. Hooks retired from AT&T after 30+ years of service. Mr. Hooks was a member of the Gilroy Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooks was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Merrick. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Paula Carver Hooks of 49 years, Children: Doug Hooks (Kristen), Denise Atkins (Rowdy), Grandchildren: Alexis Hooks, Connor Atkins, Cooper Atkins, and Zachary Hooks, Sisters: Joyce Thurston, Kay Miles, and Brenda Walsh and Brother: Robert Hooks. Mr. Hooks will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial service will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at 3:00 in the afternoon at the Gilroy Church of Christ, 13126 Old Hickory Blvd. Antioch, TN 37013.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association and/or American Cancer Society in Mr. Hooks' memory.
