Harris Morgan "Pete" Deere, born in 1935 in Johnson City, TN, passed away February 16, 2019, ending his valiant struggle with Alzheimers. Pete graduated High School in Johnson City and obtained his BE in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1957. After three years working with TN Highway Dept., Pete worked with Federal Highway Administration for 46 years before retiring in 2009. After retiring, Pete did volunteer work with Project Cure for seven years. Throughout his life he participated in Mission endeavors to India, Africa, Poland, Brazil, Panama, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Romania and has been an active member of Nashville First Baptist Church singing in the Church Choir for many years.
Preceding Pete in death are his parents Hulon and Omeria Deere; sister, Alice Hart.
Survived by his wife, Myrna Deere; children, David (Kim) Deere of Gallatin, TN, Keith Deere of South Pittsburg, TN and Liane (Rodney) Ray of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Ray, Alicia Ray, Victor Deere and Taylor Deere; brother, Jim Deere of Greensboro, NC.
A Memorial Service will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 22, at Nashville First Baptist Church with visitation 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
