Helen Lucy Frydenlund

October 6, 1924 — December 6, 2024

Nashville, TN

Helen Lucy Frydenlund, a bright and compassionate soul, was born on October 6, 1924, in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She departed this world in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 6, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication.

Helen worked as a registered nurse, notably serving during the polio epidemic. Her heart and humor truly made her a beloved figure among everyone that had the privilege to meet her. She was vivacious and smart, radiating a warmth that attracted others to her. Her hardworking nature was matched only by her love for fun, which was evident in everything she did. A twinkle always sparkled in her eye, embodying the spirit of a woman who loved everything and held interest in every moment life offered. She experienced great joy in simple things.

Family was at the core of Helen’s existence. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her three children, Lynne Ann (Dennis) Palumbo, Samuel John Frydenlund, and Jacqueline Rae Frydenlund. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Noah Frydenlund, Jay Frydenlund, Guy Frydenlund, and Daniel Palumbo, who brought immense joy to her life.

Helen's life was a tapestry of hobbies and interests. She filled her days with cooking, dancing, golfing, and gardening, nurturing both her plants and her family with equal passion. Her house was a haven—where children flocked, memories were made, and love flourished.

Helen cherished her family. She navigated life during challenging times, including enduring the Great Depression. She grew up on a farm and helped raise her two sisters after their mother dies at 32. Beloved sisters Jan Griffin and Carolyn Genasci preceded her in death. And she raised her family beside her late husband Dr. Conrad Bernard Frydenlund.

As we remember Helen Lucy Frydenlund, we celebrate a life fully lived—a woman whose spirit and love will forever resonate in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and an extensive family of nieces, nephews, and friends. Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 1:30pm. The visitation will begin at 12:00pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee, where family and friends can gather to honor her remarkable journey.

In life, Helen taught us all the true meaning of love and joy. Her legacy continues in the lives she touched and the memories she created, reminding us to savor every moment and cherish our loved ones. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the vibrant spirit she shared with the world.
