Helen Miller

Helen Bowles Miller, age 85, went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2022. Preceded in death by her parents, Honorable Judge Charles Champion Bowles, Sr. and Helen Humes Bowles; sisters, Jenniereva Bowles Gouldman and Dorothea Bowles (Bill) Gentry; and brother, Honorable Judge Charles Champion Bowles, Jr.

Survived by loving husband of 49 years David Lewis Miller; sons, David Kendall (Patricia Gray) Miller and William Knight (Lucy Cox) Miller; grandchildren, Samantha Gray Miller, Taylor Kendall Miller, Brooke Mackenzie Miller, William Knight Miller, Jr., and Reese Elizabeth Miller; sister-in-law, Katie Bowles and brother-in-law, Hugh Gouldman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Helen was a graduate of Goochland High School (VA), Marion Junior College (VA), and St. Luke’s School of Nursing (VA). She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked in the Attorney General’s office for the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to beginning her medical career as an accomplished O.R. Nurse. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her condo in Orange Beach, Alabama. Helen had a lifelong passion for playing piano and singing. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Tennessee Titans Football and Nashville Predators Hockey. She also enjoyed loving on her beloved Lakeland Terrier, “Trouble.” Most of all Helen cherished spending time with her family. She was David’s biggest supporter in his professional life and his many activities related to Virginia Military Institute. Family was her top priority especially her children and grandchildren as she treasured watching them at athletic events and church choir performances.

We would like to thank her compassionate caregivers at NHC Place at the Trace and the staff at Canterfield of Franklin.

There will be visitation at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 11:00am ~ 1:00pm with a Celebration of life at 1:00. The burial will immediately follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
