Herschel Kelly Lannom passed away on June 11, 2023 at the age of 98. Born on March 26, 1925, Herschel was a proud World War II veteran who served overseas. A devout Christian, he was a devoted husband and father, leading by example and quiet strength his entire life. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed the sport even into his 90’s. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and traveling the world. His buttermilk fudge was legendary throughout West Nashville! Herschel was a faithful member of Bellevue Baptist Church for many years.
Herschel was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Lannom, his mother, Nellie Nolen Lannom, sisters, Stella Graves and Juanita Grubbs, and brothers-in-law, Glenn Graves and James Grubbs.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helen Cantrell Lannom, Daughters, Carol Swann (Ken), and Donna Brevard (John), grandchildren, Heather Swann Banner (Ryan), Thomas Swann (Ali), Justin Brevard (Mary Nell), and Jason Brevard, and great grandchildren, Owen Banner and Ava Brevard. In addition to immediate family, Herschel had many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
There will be visitation Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and Friday June 16, 2023 from 10:30am – 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 11:30am and burial to follow all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
