Isabel Ascensión Landeo went to her Glory on October 5, 2020. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Dante Landeo. She leaves behind her beloved children, Lillian Landeo, Isabel Maxwell (Daniel), David Landeo (Christy) and her grandchildren Benjamin, Marena and Maya and step-grandchildren, Amanda Bilbrey, Megan Backus, Nicole Maxwell, Jordan Maxwell Johnson and Sandra Clemens and their families.
In addition, there are many nieces and nephews from the Mauriz, Garcia, Portuondo and Landeo families who have great love and respect for their Tia Isabel. She was loved like a mother by many of her extended family.
Isabel was Born May 10, 1923 in Lima, Peru. She was the 11th of 12 children born to Francisco Garcia Vargas Machuca and Regina Grados de Garcia. Standing at 4'10", Isabel was one of God's beautiful creatures inside and out. She had this inner intelligence that guided her well. Warm, generous, fierce, playful, loyal, passionate and compassionate, seeking justice, in her "Isabel way", she was an activist. She was righteous. She came from a witty family who loved to laugh and loved each other so very much.
She loved her "Dantíco." According to a family friend, he "felt he had won the lottery" when they married.
She was a good daughter, a good sister, a good aunt, a good friend, a good wife and an amazing mother. She also loved our Lord.
She excelled in mathematics. She was a student of English (literature, drama, grammar), learning and teaching...always teaching and advising. In the manner of her generation, she was taught in the old ways. She excelled in "los labores"...sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, tatting, all manner of handwork. She was a natural at drawing, painting, framing and "clay play". She loved the arts. She loved to dance. She was an aficionado of bull fighting and boxing. She loved to travel the world but especially (and repeatedly) to her beloved Peru. Every time Tia Isabel visited Peru there was a big family "fiesta...todo alegría!"
She will forever be our "Muñequita Linda".
