GRIGSBY, John Booker, Jr. "Jack" departed this earthy life to the arms of his Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 11th, 2012. John was born in Trenton, Tennessee on July 11th 1924. He graduated from Franklin High School, obtained a B.S. Degree from John B. Stetson University in Deland, Florida. John graduated from the University of Texas, Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas with a Physical Therapy Degree. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps in World War II , being stationed in the Pacific theatre He served 31 years as a physical therapist, retiring as the Chief of the Physical Therapy Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee. John was a member of Brookhollow Baptist Church, serving as youth Sunday School Teacher, & coaching the church's boys basketball team. His other passion was planting & caring for trees at the church. He also coached baseball for the Vulcan Park Youth League & worked with youth thru Buddies of Nashville. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara Hendry Grigsby, daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & Ralph Poole, & daughter & son-in-law, Jacqueline Jackie Claire & Gary Crim. John is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Gary Horace Ace Crim,
Elizabeth Marie Crim, & John Edward Crim, & great-grandchildren,
Dylan Crim, Ashley Crim, & Abigail Abby Crim. John is survived by his sister , Daisy Grigsby Davis, sister-in-laws, Betty Lou Grigsby, Jackie Hendry, & Al Hendry, & brother-in-law, Harold Hendry.
John leaves behind his nieces, Lou Reynolds Davis, Nancy Foster, Rebecca Wall, Leslie Franklin, Janet Stanfield, Cathy Hendry, Pat Hendry, & Lisa Gough, & nephews, Dr. Charlton Davis, John Grigsby, Dave Hendry, Jimmy Vern Hendry, & a number of great nieces & nephews. & a host of life long friends.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Gregory Grigsby, & father,
John B. Grigsby, Sr., sister, Mable Grigsby, brother, Robert Grigsby, granddaughter, Rebecca Angel, grandson, Eric Sean Poole, & nephew, Dr. John Davis. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at West Harpeth Funeral Home between 4-7p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Brookhollow Baptist Church at 11a.m., followed by burial at Mt.Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee. Semper Fidelis. Pallbearers will be Todd & Jimmy Gee, Floyd, Bruce, & Paul Pettit, Bobby Baker, Carey Adkerson, Lynn Creech, John Grigsby, Ace Crim, John Edward Crim, Gerald Allison, Lee Dalton , Jay Crosson, Barry Steele, Trey Spreaker, Jimmy & Bill Peak. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Harwell,
J.R. Gee, Preston Creech, Bruce Hammond, Luther McDonald, Steve Bond, Glen Burnett, Charlie Tant,
Norman Johnson, Drubby Potts, Garland Petway, Charles Harris, and Stanley Brumfield .
