James William Bolton, age 88 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
World War II Veteran served as a Navy Seabee in the South Pacific 1943 until 1946. Fought in the battle of Okinawa and served on the LST that evacuated the residents of Bikini Atoll prior to the testing of the hydrogen bomb.
Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years; Mary Elizabeth Buttrey Bolton, daughter; Patricia Jean Oakley and grandson, James Michael Bolton, his parents; Grace and Jake Bolton, brothers; Lewis, Amos and Richard Bolton, sisters; Ruby Cherry and Patsy Norris.
Survivors include his son; James (Loretta) Bolton of Racine, WI., daughters; Denise (Ben) Mangrum of Lyles, TN and Alice Prince of Fairview, TN. Seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also survived by one brother; Billy Bolton of Springfield, TN along with numerous friends, nieces and nephews. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
A celebration of James's life will be conducted on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with a visitation from 9:00 AM until service time.
Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research, in loving memory of James William Bolton.
