BOWERS, James Claude died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his daughters residence in Pegram, Tennessee; he was 88 years old.

Mr. Bowers is preceded in death by his parents, James Patterson and Bertie Langford Bowers; wife of 66 years Odessa Bowers; son Jimmy Bowers; grandson Jeffrey Smith; brothers Edward, Hubert, Bill, and Buford Bowers; and nephews Joel and Randy Bowers.

Mr. Bowers is survived by daughters Marie Smith (Robert) and LuAnn Engelman (Mike); daughter-in-law Lisa Bowers; sisters Dorothy Mason (Hartie), and Peggy Harrison (Wallace); (7) grandchildren; (2) step grandchildren; (18) great grandchildren; and (2) great great grandchildren.

Mr. Bowers was a founding member of the Pegram Volunteer Fire Department; Instrumental in the incorporation of the Town of Pegram; served as an Alderman for the Town of Pegram; was a founding member of the Harpeth River Sportsman Club; Assistant Scout Master; and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pegram.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Pegram Volunteer Fire Department, the Harpeth River Sportsman Club, Raymond Haley, Larry Martin, and Jimmy Hedgepath.

The family extends a special Thank You to Dr. David Heusinkveld and Tamera Pace.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8, Wednesday 2-8, and Thursday 10-11:30 with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:30; all at HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221 www.harpethhills.com

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pegram First Baptist Church, 4548 Sunnyfield Drive, Pegram, TN 37143.
