CRAWFORD, James R., Age 76, July 8, 2013. Preceded in death by his spouse, Dorothy R. Crawford; parents, James C. and Eula Crawford; sister, Mary Jo Moore. Survived by spouse, Donice Heckler Crawford; children, Chris Crawford Amy and Margaret Crawford; step-children, Thomas Heckler Jeanne, Scott Heckler Sue, Kip Heckler Cindy and Kandi Whited Jim; grandchildren, Cody and Drew Crawford; 11 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; sister, Carol Turner Bill.
He was a teacher and a coach for 25 years. He was a varsity baseball coach for Overton High School where they were 3rd in the state in 1965 and 2nd in the state in 1968. He was the freshman football coach and was undefeated for 7 years and a baseball and football coach at Bellevue High School and the head football coach at Goodlettsville High School for 2 years. He was also an avid outdoorsman, gardener, architect and a master of all trades.
A life celebration service will be at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Harpeth Hills
Funeral Home with Curt Mitchell officiating. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers: Tommy Griffith, Hale Harris, Steve Harris, Sam Young, Ralph Perkins, Jimmie Bradford, Rice Brown, Earnie Rymond and Doug Newman. Active Pallbearers: Joe Foxall, Jrex Donaldson, Brent Turner, Kevin Meadors, Ted Hackett and Jim Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice or Juvenile Diabetes.
