James Robert Edwards Sr.

James R. Edwards, age 74, of Pegram passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was born to Lawrence James Edwards and Emma Louise Crook Edwards on July 23, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee.

James was known for his genuinely kind and creative spirit. With this, he wrote a book, songs, traveled frequently, but most often spent time with his family. During this time, his family got together for cookouts, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. No matter what the adventure was, James loved to be with his family. In efforts to keep the family activities afloat, James and his wife, Sherry owned a canoe rental, Canoe Music City near their home in Cheatham County, Tennessee.

In his early years, James graduated college with a bachelor's degree. He was a passionate leader and teacher within the Celebrate Recovery Program teaching people about the healing power of Jesus Christ. He also went on to serve his country in the Air Force National Guard for six years.

James was a man of God that shared his faith diligently with his family and everyone who he came into contact with. The love he shared had no boundaries. Not one member of his family went without knowing what was truly in his heart, and they know that they are a part of it.

James is preceded in death by his parents listed above; sister, Linda Faye Edwards (Roberts); maternal grandparents, Victor Crook and Jessie May Bradley (Crook); and paternal grandparents, John Burton Edwards and Dovie Ethel Manning (Edwards).

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Sherry Lynn Edwards; sons, Brian Orman, James Robert Edwards, Jr. (Vanessa), Joshua Edwards (Tracy); sisters, Jane Harbin (James), Ann Allen (Edwin), and Debbie Edwards; and grandchildren, Austin Orman, Logan Orman, Parker Edwards, and Luke Edwards.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10:30am until the hour of service. The funeral service will begin on Thursday, May 23, at 1:30pm with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
