James Allen Holland, Sr. of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 11, 2018; he was 84 years old.
Mr. Holland was preceded in death by siblings Dot Horn, Harriet Whitaker, Catherine Davis, and George Holland.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Virginia Rowell Holland; son James Allen Holland, Jr. (Karen); son Richard Louis Holland (Margeaux); daughter Monica Holland Gurley (Daniel); son Jonathan Kyle Holland (Elena); ten grandchildren, Lillian G. Hudson (Cory), Thomas Jackson Holland (Noelle), Meredith Jane Holland, Geny Kate Gurley, Holland Eliza Gurley, Mary Claire Gurley, Mark Andrew Holland, Daniel Richard Holland (Brittany), Everest Elijah Holland, and James Allen Holland, III; two great grandchildren, Caroline Marie Hudson, and Thomas Jackson, Jr.; and six siblings, Shirley Cosse, Patricia Smith, Norma Land, Gail Ladner, Tom Holland, and John Holland.
Jimmy was a faithful husband and wonderful father, grandfather & friend to many. His life was a testimony to the power of God to transform a life. He was an active member of Briarwood Pres Church in Birmingham, Ala, where he served as a Deacon. He served his country with honor and valor; and most of all, he served others with a selfless heart that encouraged and inspired all who knew him. He shall be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 9:00 am at the Bellevue Baptist Church 7400 US-70S, Nashville, TN 37221.
