James "Jim" Bingham

January 6, 1947 — February 10, 2024

In Memoriam: James Earl Bingham

James Earl Bingham, affectionately known as Jim and Bing, was born on January 6th, 1947, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, spent his formative years in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away on February 10th, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim proudly served his country in Vietnam, where his valor earned him two Bronze Star Medals, along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. His commitment extended beyond the battlefield. He graduated from the University of Memphis School of Law and became a respected legal counsel for many years in Memphis, Tennessee with Lockard, Bingham, and Kaplan. Through the years he worked on the board of many charitable organizations.

In celebrating the life of Jim Bingham, let us remember a man whose spirit was as resilient as his commitment to his country, family, and friends. Jim’s laughter will echo in our hearts and his legacy will continue to inspire us to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. We will never forget his contagious smile and infectious energy.

Jim was a prolific reader, an accomplished pool player, an avid golfer, and he loved spending time on the lake with his loved ones and friends. He was warm and welcoming to all around him. We will miss his organizational advice, his sense of humor, and the caring man that he was.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Earl Bingham, his mother, Edith Vaughn Bingham and his brother, Max Bingham of Dyersburg. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Schneider, daughter, Mary (Chris) Pedrick, former wife, Katherine Marek, and stepsons, Matt (Christi) Schneider, Drew (Alexandra) Schneider, and Brad (Lorri) Moore. Jim was a proud grandfather to Addison, Paxton, Henry, and Olivia Schneider along with Avery and Adelyn Pedrick. His dogs Max and Bob, brought him great joy.

To honor Jim’s life, there will be a Visitation on Thursday February 22, 2024 from 11:00 am until the Celebration of Life at 12:30 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. All are invited to a graveside military funeral ceremony at 2:00 pm at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

May Jim’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved him. We will never forget his quick wit and “Binghamisms”.
