James Mitchell, Jr.

James Patrick Mitchell, Jr. went to heaven on September 24, 2022. Jimmy was born on July 19, 1972 in Nashville, Tennessee to James Patrick Mitchell, Sr. and Judy Gentry Clark.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clayson L and Betty (Kennedy) Gentry, Tom and Mary (Burns) Mitchell.

Survived by his mother, Judith Gentry (Lowry) Clark of Nashville, father, James P. Mitchell, Sr. (Sandra) of Nashville, sister, Rachel (Rickey) Jones of Chapel Hill, brother, David (Wendy) Mitchell of Nashville, sisters, Amy Clark and Emily (Trevor) Blevins, Murfreesboro, special “daughter” Dashia Brandon for the last 15 years, nephews and nieces, Clayson, Cassidy, Cooper and Collin Jones, Asher Mitchell, Graycin and Walker Blevins.

Jimmy graduated from David Lipscomb University and earned a master’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University in Special Education. He was a basketball coach and athletic director at Harpeth High School. For 26 years he was an educator in Cheatham County where he spent many years mentoring, motivating, caring for all his students. He was a die-hard Harpeth High School and Philadelphia Phillies fan. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

There will be a visitation Saturday October 1, 2022 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Sunday October 2, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the Celebration of Life 2:00 pm all held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Hwy 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
