Theodore Jordan Tiesler, Jr 1979-2019
Jay Tiesler, age 39, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Tiesler. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Bruce Tiesler, children, Isabelle Tiesler and Sophie Tiesler; mother, Mary Elizabeth Tiesler and father, Theodore Jordan Tiesler Sr.; sister, Amanda Durai and niece, Jessica Durai, along with numerous family members and friends.
Jay grew up in Nashville and graduated from Hillwood High School in 1998. Jay was a loyal friend to many, beginning with the "childhood boys from the street." Stories of their adventures growing up together was a frequent topic of conversation when they were together over the years. His circle of friends grew in his teen years and throughout his adult life.
An avid football fan, his enthusiasm was evident to all that knew him. Auburn was his college team and he was known to wear one of his Auburn hats while attending football games at the Grove in Oxford, at Vanderbilt Stadium and even Bryant-Denny Stadium proudly. When the Titans arrived in Nashville, Sunday afternoons were spent watching the Titans either at the field or gathered with friends and family at his house. "War Eagle" and "Titan Up" were his favorite phrases.
Jay was married to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Carrie, for 16 years. Their beloved daughters, Izzy and Sophie, were his pride and joy. From dance recitals in the spring, kayaking and swimming during the summer, sharing his passion for football in the fall and watching movies together in the winter, his life revolved around them. His love for his girls was evident from the smile on his face and the glimmer in his eyes when they were together or when he was talking about them. God gave him his beautiful girls to take care of and he will forever be in their hearts and watching over them from Heaven.
We are all thankful for his supportive family and friends throughout his life and especially during his last few weeks while he was with us. A special thanks to the caring team of doctors and nurses in the ICU at St Thomas West.
Visitation will be at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 3rd, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm.
