Jay David Watson, a loving husband, devoted father, and respected Vietnam Veteran, passed away on April 12,2024, in Nashville, TN. Jay was born on February 19, 1947, in Dalhart, Texas and raised in East Hampton, New York. He dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his passions. 

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Tex and Adele Watson.  

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carole Watson; children, Kyle Watson, Ryan Watson, Seth (Dana) Watson, Dena (Tom) Walling, Amanda Currey, and Mary Beth (Mark) Hallings; grandchildren, Amber (Jordan) Bulla, Tori (Matt) O’Hara, Zach Derrick, Jacob Derrick, Matthew Walling, and Chase Hallings; great-grandchildren, Zuri Lynch, Zeph Lynch, and Layla O’Hara  As a young man, Jay served in the US Navy as a 1st Class Petty Officer during the Vietnam War. His commitment to his military service was unwavering. He served honorably and courageously as a member of the Navy’s Dirty Water Patrol in Vietnam.   Jay pursued education and graduated from East Hampton High School. He furthered his academic achievements by obtaining a master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Jayfound joy in learning throughout his life.  Outside of his professional pursuits, Jay was a man of many interests and talents. He had a deep love for animals and owned horses that brought him great joy. An avid movie watcher with a penchant for history, Jay also enjoyed collecting guns and spending time shooting, especially at Regal Range, to unwind.  Jay was known for his infectious laughter and jovial spirit. His sense of humor 

brightened the lives of those around him, making him a cherished friend and companion to many. He was a lover of the ocean and life.  

 In addition to his legacy as a dedicated serviceman and intellectual individual, Jay will be remembered for the love he showered upon his family.  

 A visitation will take place on April 18th at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Nashville from 9:30am to 12:30pm.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Nashville Humane Association in Jay Watson’s honor.
