Jean Chester Thompson, age 84, a long-time resident of Fairview, Tennessee, passed away on November 4, 2014, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs.Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Charlie and Nora Belle Chester, and her brothers Elton, Sterling, Bobby, Austin and Lewis Chester, and by her sisters Lera Nugent and Annie Mae Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lowell Brice Thompson, her "everything," to whom she was happily married for 58 years.
She is survived by her son Dan Thompson (Betty) of Knoxville and her daughter Deborah Howard (Andrew) of Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by four grandchildren - Julie Jones Tokarz (David) of Atlanta, Jennifer Thompson of Nashville, Dr. Robert Thompson (Lyndi) of Murfreesboro and their children Jack and Hannah Kate, and Adam Thompson (Kerri) of Knoxville.
Mrs.Thompson was a devoted and active member of Fairview Church of Christ for over 50 years. She was also one of the founding members of Fairview's first Brownie troop, continuing to help lead the members of that troop as they progressed through Girl Scouting.
She was an excellent homemaker, cook, seamstress and quilt maker. She was known by so many for her kindness, generosity and hospitality. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors Thursday, November 6, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and on Friday, November 7, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
