Jeffory Norman Hughes, Sr. was born on February 17, 1967 in a rare Tennessee blizzard. Jeff was a rare gem and a unique find if you were privileged enough to call him a friend. He had a huge heart and was always looking for ways to help out his friends and neighbors. Sometimes that meant taking them for rides in his beloved El Camino, other times, he would volunteer to help them with any project, big or small, with which they needed assistance. Jeff had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the bass, listening to friends play, and giving feedback. He had a great ear for rock. Jeff always did everything with the utmost enthusiasm; including riding motorcycles, driving any type of vehicle (including golf carts), hunting, and fishing. He loved his family most of all and was very proud of his two sons and the men they were becoming.
Jeff lived in Fairview, Tennessee and was able to raise his sons on the same land that he grew up on. He died on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the age of 50 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Norma Sue Bornstein Hughes, and is survived by his father Mr. James Blythe Hughes, Sr. He was married to Mary Stephanie Hollahan Hughes and had two sons, J.J. Hughes (Ashley) and Wyatt Hughes. He also had a step-daughter Deonna Thomasson. He had a sister Sheryll Southall (Chuck) and brother James Hughes (Pam).
Jeff had many close friends, many of whom he considered family. If you were one of his friends, he would call you "brother" and make sure that you knew that he loved you. Jeff was a follower of Christ and strongly believed that the Holy Spirit was an active participant in his life. He will be missed by many and never will be forgotten.
Visitation will be at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 3:00 until 5:00; a Funeral Service will begin at 5:00 with burial in Lampley Cemetery following the service.
