Jesse G. Pedigo, Jr., age 79, passed away on April 11, 2023. Born March 2, 1944 to the late Jesse G. and Alma Pedigo, Jesse will be deeply missed by his family: his loving wife, Barbara; his children Kelly Farrell-Oliverson (Erik), Brandon (Pamela); step-children Scott Goodner (Angie) and Brett Goodner (Chastity); grandchildren: Hannah Goodner, Madison Farrell, Connor Farrell and Sophie Pedigo; siblings Earl “Bud”, Winnie Aldridge (Henry, deceased), Joyce Wooten (James), Robert Neil (Lora) and Sheila (James Salerno) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Edwina Stinson (Joe, deceased) and Rita Moran (Mike, deceased).
Mr. Pedigo was an educator serving as a teacher, athletic director, and student council advisor for many years before becoming an assistant principal then principal all in the Metro-Nashville Public Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and education at Belmont College and a master’s Degree in School Administration from Tennessee State University. He also was a pastor at Lynnville Baptist Church in Lynnville, TN for more than 15 years. More recently, he and Barbara were active members at First Baptist Church of Nashville where he loved teaching a Sunday School class. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing with friends, beach and mountain trips with friends and family, and several cruises with siblings. He always delighted in his grandchildren. He and Barbara were consummate hosts to many and often large family gatherings. Jesse was a kind, caring and faithful man; not just looking for but seeing the good in others.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, April 16 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m. with service to follow at 11:30 a.m. All events are being held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. There will be livestream of the funeral service available on Harpeth Hills Facebook page.
The family recommends that donations be made to the Building Fund of Nashville First Baptist Church, 108 7th Ave S., Nashville, TN 37203, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
