Joan Drane, passed away on January 17, 2024, in Nashville, TN. She was born on March 26, 1938, in Talladega, AL.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ausban and Realta Kearley and brother James “Jimmy” A. Kearley.

Joan is survived by her children, Tina Sharp, James (Lucinda Maynard) Drane III, Wendy (Jeffrey) Coss; grandchildren Jamie (Bret) Rideout, Clayton Sharp; great grandchildren, Oliver Rideout, Evelyn Rideout, Annie Rideout, Alexander Rideout, and Hope Rideout. Joan was surrounded by many loved ones who admired and cherished her. 

She dedicated her career to education and touched the lives of many as both a teacher in an elementary school and a substitute teacher. Her passion for teaching was evident in her dedication to her students and her unwavering commitment to their success.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Joan achieved higher education and received her Bachelor's of Science at Peabody College in Nashville, TN. 

Known for her generous spirit and shy demeanor, Joan had a beauty that she didn't realize herself. Her independence and feistiness were admired by all who knew her. Joan always looked fashionable yet remained humble in her choices.

Outside of work and personal achievements, Joan indulged in various hobbies and interests. She loved spending time with her family, cherishing each moment with them. Joan immersed herself in books regularly, she was an avid reader. Movies were also one of her favorite pastimes. 

Cross-stitching brought out the artist within her. The meticulous craft allowed Joan to create beautiful pieces that reflected both her creativity and attention to detail.

Joan’s passing leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled. However, her memory will always serve as a reminder of the precious moments shared with her. 

There will be a Memorial Gathering held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home for close friends and family.
