Joan D. Keilman, 86 of Ashland City passed away on December 5, 2020. She was born in Blair County, Pennsylvania to North and Evelyn Dunkle. In 1958, she married Herbert Keilman in Philadelphia, PA.

She graduated from Altoona School of Nursing in 1956 and began her RN career at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. When she and her husband moved to Atlanta, she continued nursing at Emory University Hospital until 1974.

Next to nursing, Joan had a passion for flowers. She was a member of the Tyne Meade GC and Foxland Hall GC. She was an honorary member of Winding Woods GC. She was a life member in the National Garden Clubs and Tennessee Federations of Garden Club. Joan was a National Garden Club Master Flower Show Judge and was a co-chair of the National Garden Club convention at Opryland in the early eighties.

Later in life when she and her family moved to TN, Joan became a Realtor & Broker. After moving to FL and receiving her license there, Joan was awarded the National Association of Realtors CRS.

Throughout her life, Joan enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, and James Haley VA Hospital. She was a stanch advocate for Veterans who needed assistance and was a life member of the American Legion.

Joan loved spending time with her family and friends. There were many fun filled family reunions in which practical jokes were played on one another. She enjoyed playing cards and watching a good football game.

Joan will be sincerely missed by daughters, Debby Keilman, and Mary Perry (Robert); grandchildren, Shawn Johnson (Sandy), and Derrick Johnson (Rebecca); great grandchildren, Link, Alexz, Ethan, and William; great-great grandchild, Elsie, and three siblings.

She is preceded in death by her parents, North Andrew Dunkle and Evelyn Floy Riggle Dunkle; husband, Herbert Richard Keilman; and three siblings.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Vantage Point Villages for the care given to her over the past few years. In addition, the family wants to thank the team at Alive Hospice for their care in her final days.
