Joe Berridge

August 7, 1942 — November 25, 2021

Dickson

Joe Garfield Berridge was born August 7, 1942 to Lillian and Virgil Berridge in Ashland City, TN. In his youth, Joe hunted, fished and helped his parents farm their land.  Joe attended school at Ashland City High School.

He began working at State Stove and later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he worked with his brother-in-law Bill Roberts as a private aircraft mechanic for a small aviation company.  This position sparked his interest in aircraft and as a result he obtained both his private pilot and instructor license.

Joe then moved to North Dakota where he worked at Barr Aviation maintaining helicopters.  Eventually Joe returned to his roots in Tennessee where he worked at Stevens Aviation as a mechanic.  It was through this position that he seized an opportunity to fly with the Maddox Family at Associates Capital where he later became the Chief Pilot.

After returning to Tennessee Joe spent time on the lake and one day while boating, he and Marilynn were introduced by mutual friends.  The two were married in 1982 and have spent the past 39 years together.

Joe took on the responsibility of Chief Pilot for First American National Bank where he retired after many years of flying.  Joe and Marilynn have spent their retirement years at “The Branch” riding four-wheelers, feeding the deer, bird watching, enjoying time with their cats, fishing, hunting, working around the farm and spending time with family and friends.

Joe is pre-deceased by his mother, Lillian Berridge and father, Virgil Berridge.  He is survived by his wife, Marilynn Berridge, his sister Bette Roberts, daughters Angela Van Noy (Jeff) and Kim Cox (Jeff), grandchildren, nieces and many good friends.
