Joe Wood- Age 94, of Ashland City, formerly of Nashville, passed away January 21, 2021.
Papa Joe as his family called him, was a strong-willed man that loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, basket weaving and most of all spending time with his family. He was a patriot to his country serving in the United States Army during WWII. He was also very active within his community as a member of the 737 Union & Rescue Squads in Davidson and Williamson County. He also worked for many years and retired form Ford Glass.
Preceded in death by his parents Maude Stone Wood and Eugene Jeffrey Wood; wife of 66 years Louise Wood; sister Mary Jane Fleming; brother Eugene Wood, Bob Wood & Tommy Wayne Wood. Survived by his children Denise Claxton (Richard), Bill Wood, Jeffrey Wood (Sue) and Max Gene Wood; grandchildren Jeff, Jr. Wood (Lauren), Christopher Wood (Kayla) and Brandon Wood (Brianna); 8 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Hester; brother Max Wood (Bonnie); brother-in-law William Bohannon (Nancy); several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff of Hillcrest Healthcare Center and Asera Care Hospice for the love and care giving to Joe.
