Johanna Pearl Choate, born on October 22, 1949, in Long Island, New York, peacefully passed away in Nashville, TN, on June 3, 2024. She was a beloved wife of 48 years to Johnney Mack Choate. Johanna led a remarkable career at AT&T as an engineering assistant for over 30 years before retiring. She graduated from East Nashville High School in 1967, laying the foundation for her successful journey.
Johanna is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years Johnney Mack Choate; nephew Matthew Powell; parents Daniel and Nancy Olphie.
Survived by her children Pamela (Darren) Jones, John Choate, Kenneth Choate; grandchildren Jessica (Trey) Moss, Lainie (Kevin) Gibson, Kendall (Brad) Barnes, Cody Choate, Bryson Choate, Michael ( Jerrie) Brown; great grandchildren Aidan, Sadie, Claire, Braxton, and Gracelyn; brothers Daniel, Richard (Ann), Ronald (Jingru Hu), Michael; sisters Donna, Susan (Danny), Nancy (Jim), Debbie, Diane, and Sally as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Described as very sweet, kind, and a peacemaker, Johanna had a heart of gold always dedicated to taking care of her family. Her vibrant personality made her the life of the party and the best jokester out of her 10 siblings. Johanna was a true homebody who found joy in simple pleasures like reading anything she could find and listening to music on YouTube. Her passion for caregiving extended beyond her professional life as she lovingly raised her grandson Bryson after retirement, earning her the titles of the best Momma and Granny.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 11:30am ~ 1:30pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home immediately followed by a graveside service at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
Johanna's legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She has left a mark on the hearts of those she touched and will forever be remembered with fondness and respect. Johanna's spirit will live on through the countless lives she brightened with her presence.
