John Andrew "Andy" Gass

John Andrew “Andy” Gass, 68, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on October 5th, 2024. 

Born on January 11, 1956 in Springfield, Tennessee to Bill and Betsye Gass, Andy was the older brother of David Gass. The family moved from Springfield to Clarksville where Andy graduated from Clarksville High School in 1974. He then graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1978 where he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Andy eventually settled in Nashville, Tennessee and married Martha “Muffy” Fletcher in January of 1990. She was the love of his life and they cherished 21 wonderful years together before her sudden passing in 2012. Their daughter, Katie, was born in July 1991. Andy spent many years pouring out his time and talents for others: coordinating numerous charity events, coaching Katie’s softball teams, serving as a deacon at church, and always helping others in need. 

After his retirement from nearly 40 years in property management, you could almost always find Andy on Kentucky Lake or deep-sea fishing in Florida. If he wasn’t fishing, he was supporting the Tennessee Vols, Tennessee Titans, or Nashville Predators at any given game. 

Andy never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Kind, generous, funny, and servant-hearted are words that others used to describe him. He courageously fought a tough battle with aggressive cancer and has now gained his heavenly reward in the presence of God. 

Preceded in death by his wife, Martha “Muffy” Gass; father, William “Bill” Gass, mother, Betsye Glover Gass. 

Andy is survived by his daughter, Katie Gass; brother David Gass; 5 nieces, 1 nephew, and faithful friend Kathi Rougon. 

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 9:30am ~ 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 11:30am the burial will immediately follow all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
