Mr. John Montgomery Keeton III "Coach Keeton", age 87, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday August 11, 2018. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 1, 1931 to the late John Montgomery Keeton, Jr., and Ola Roberts Keeton.
Mr. Keeton graduated from Bellevue High School in 1951. He earned his B.S. from Peabody College in 1960, and his Master's in Administration from Tennessee State University. Mr. Keeton served as a football coach, teacher, and administrator for a total of 45 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Sonja Keeton Anderson; siblings: Buck Keeton, Margaret Corbitt, Frances Keith, Buster Keeton, and Jerry Keeton; and daughter-in-law Betty W. Keeton.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 67 years Evelyn C. Keeton; children: Monty Keeton, Tony Keeton (Diahann), Connie Jo Shelton (Greg); grandchildren: Keeton Anderson, Jinny Keeton, Taylor Shelton, John Keeton II, Hendrick Shelton, Catherine Keeton, and Sonja Shelton; and brother, Larry Keeton.
A celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 11 AM at the Bellevue Church of Christ. The family will receive friends Thursday, and Friday from 4 PM until 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Bellevue Church of Christ 7401 Hwy 70 South, Nashville, TN 37221. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Nashville Christian School 7555 Sawyer Brown Road, Nashville, TN 37221,www.nashvillechristian.org or the Patient Advocate Foundation, www.patientadvocate.org in Mr. Keeton's memory.
