John Joseph Madden of Franklin, TN, died Friday, November 25,2016, after a brief illness.
Born July 13, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Ruth and Ralph Madden, both preceded him in death. He is survived by his only sister Mary Serkosky, of South Windsor, Connecticut.
He was educated in Terre Haute, and joined the Air Force in 1953
during the Korean War. After the war, he attended John Herron Art Academy where he met and married his wife Chell Fogle. He then attended the Art Center in Los Angeles before returning to Indiana to begin his career in Commercial Advertising. John then moved to Chicago to work for the
D' Arcy ad agency and eventually to Nashville for advertising.
In Nashville, John and Harold Goodrum, opened a successful advertising agency, Madden & Goodrum and Associates.
He was a long-time member of Richland Country Club, The Legends Club and Old Natchez Country Club. He was a rules official for the Tennessee Golf Association. His spare time and retirement years were spent 08 the golf course with his wife, children and friends.
Mr. Madden was preceded in death by his wife Chell in 2000.
He is survived by his children Monica (Kelly) Caton, Tucker, GA., Monice (Bill) Hostettler, Nashville, TN., Sean (Marian) Madden, Suwanee, GA., Mischelle (Frank) Hopfinger, Lake Forest, IL., and Deirdre (Allen) Hood, Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren
Mr. Madden will have a private memorial service. Contributions may be made in John's memory to The Tennessee Golf Association 400 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37069
