John Spain, Jr. Phd

John Dee Russell Spain Jr., PhD. 77, Passed away on April 7, 2023.

John was born on February 16, 1946 in Kingston Springs, Tennessee to the late John Dee Russell Spain, Sr. and Phyllis Ruth Widener; John served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge, John went on to be a police officer in Los Angles, California. John returned to his home and family in Tennessee in 1974. John was employed by AT&T in the security department. He then completed his education and earned his PhD. in Business Administration. He left AT&T and then went on to do contract work with Lloyds of London establishing best practices and procedures for their cyber security.

John used his talents and skills for the benefit of others, both locally and abroad.

John was married to the love of his life, Carol Yvonne. John was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Ruth Wiley; father, John Dee Russell Spain Sr.; his precious son, John Dee Russell Spain IV.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Yvonne Spain; daughter, Jennifer Pluimer (Chris); stepdaughter, Evelyn DeShea Sweeney Wallace (Trey); grandchildren, Troy Pluimer, Kenneth Drake Wallace, Haley Ellen Wallace Powers (Chris); great-grandchildren, Evelyn Chase Powers, Rowyn Elaine Powers, who dearly loved their “Pop-Pop”

John was an avid golfer, bible scholar, automobile, computer, debate, stereo file enthusiast. He loved a good meal and unselfishly serving others.

Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2023 from 2:00pm ~ 3:00pm with a Celebration of Life at 3:00pm and receiving of friends until 4:00pm all at The Pavilion at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
