John W. Stapp III of Brentwood, TN passed away at Saint Thomas-Rutherford on December 21, 2017 at the age of 79. Mr. Stapp was born to the late John W. Stapp Jr. and Jane Elizabeth Scott in Nashville, TN on July 27, 1938, and was raised by his mother Jane and John Owens of Hurricane Mills, TN.
Mr. Stapp is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Donna L Stapp. He is survived by three sons, Jay Stapp(Lori), Scott Stapp(Ivette) and Mike Stapp; two sisters, Mary Ann Hooper(Jere) and Joan Kennedy(Bill); 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime caregiver and family friend Brandi Johnson(Jeremy).
Mr. Stapp proudly served his country in the US Navy for 4 years and also served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He then moved on to a successful career of 38 years with TVA where he was an Electrical Engineer. He was very devoted in his marriage and was extremely generous throughout life. His love for yardwork was only surpassed by the love he had for his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home at 11:30am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.
