John Thompson

John R. Thompson- Age 83, of Chapel Hill, passed away July 26, 2021.

John was good man with a kind, gentle, and patient soul. He had a great sense of humor and was a master at practical jokes.  If you needed help, he was there to build it or fix it.  There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do.  He loved teaching you while he worked.   Fishing and traveling were two of his favorite hobbies.  His top 3 destinations were Panama City Beach, Great Smoky Mountains and Hawaii.

He worked 35 years for Looseleaf Book Binding Company. After his retirement, for Hertz, transporting cars form location to location.

He is preceded in death by his parents Grace L. Hillard Thompson and Samuel Ross Thompson, son Steven Thompson, and brothers Jimmy Thompson and Dean Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Sue Thompson, daughters Sherrie Richard, Teresa Fisher (Troy), Pam Spears & Tammy McCormick, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
