Johnny Howell, known as the Bradley Tomato Man, age 74 of Nashville, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the family farm.
Johnny was born on that same farm on July 20, 1942 to the late J. C. and Lonnie McNeil Howell. He lived his life there, working, playing, relaxing and raising his own family.
Johnny's father, J. C., began the family farm in 1937 and Johnny followed in his footsteps as the second generation. Today, the farm will continue with the third generation tending the fields.
He likely was not always right, but Johnny was certainly never wrong. His family recalls three ways to things: the right way, the wrong way and Johnny's way, which of course was always the right way. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and served as an example of hard work and care to all of them.
Preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and a son: Ricky; Johnny is survived by three children: Lisa (Dale) Seator, Wayne (Ginger) Howell and John (Deanna) Howell; a step-daughter: Adrian Hulan; three siblings: Curly (Brenda) Howell, Eunice (Billy) Campbell and Margie (Rich) Binkley; 13 grandchildren: Courney, Maria, Chad, Tyler, Paige, Haven, John Dalton, Jackson, Jacquelyn, Katelyn, Ashelyn, William and Gracelyn; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Johnny's family will celebrate his life on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Harpeth Hill Funeral Home. They will receive friends for visitation on Monday from Noon until 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM. The final journey to his resting place at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens will be atop his wagon on Wednesday, following the service.
