John William Gebhardt

John William Gebhardt, 74, of Franklin, TN, died of kidney failure on July 24, 2022 at home with his family. He was born in Erie, PA on April 4, 1948 to the late William Warren and Mary Patricia (Long) Gebhardt. He was also preceded in death by an older brother, Charles, who died at birth.

John attended St. John’s Evangelist School in Girard, PA, Cathedral Prep in Erie, and graduated from Northwestern High School in Albion in 1966. He then entered the G.E. Apprentice program before being drafted into the Army and stationed in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

He returned to G.E. before he became a regional sales manager for Ingersoll Cutting Tool Company and moved to Lawrenceville, GA, then moved to Franklin, TN. After that, he worked for Kennemetal before retiring. John was known for his whit and enjoyed fishing, boating, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing golf, building furniture, listening to music, playing his guitar, and traveling.

John is survived by his wife Brenda (Sorenson) Gebhardt, children Jamie (David) Ward, Jeffrey (Missy) Gebhardt, and Daniel Gebhardt, grandchildren Margaret “Maisie” Ward, and Robert “Bo” Gebhardt, siblings Mary (Jim) Dunda and Tom (Chris) Gebhardt, several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews and many good friends.

While no services are being planned, arrangements are being made by Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aveanna Home Health And Hospice, 235 Noah Dr. Suite 300, Franklin, TN 37064.
