Joseph William Brooks

Mr. Joseph William Brooks, Jr. of Franklin, Tennessee passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 84 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on November 16, 1938, in Monette, Arkansas to Joe and Sylvia Brooks.

He graduated from Holcomb High School in 1958. After high school, Joe served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.  In 1970, he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a master’s in education.

Joe enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family.  He was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ in Franklin.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Sylvia Brooks; sister, Betty Klein and brother, Larry Brooks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen, of almost 60 years; two sons, Robert (Wendy) and Barry Brooks; two daughters, Tracy (Tim) Bradford and Kelly (George) Page; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Joseph (Hannah), Cody, and Megan Brooks, Tanner (Madison) Bradford and Victoria (Jacob) Caudill, Matthew and Brooks Page; two great grandchildren, Alexander Caudill and Luke Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Tennessee Children’s Home in honor of Joe.
